Due to Mike being home on domestic duties only two of the three amigos fished Hornsea (South) yesterday. We fished from low water to about an hour after high tide. The sea was spot on, the wind was light but we had some really heavy rain showers during the day. With Mike and the chuck wagon missing we didn’t have our usual sausage sarnies that set us up for the day but showing bulldog spirit we struggled on without them……You were really missed Mike.
We decided to fish near the last steps as the beach had a nice drop with a bit of a gully.
I was fishing two rods using a mix of, up and over, single paternoster and pulley rigs and using fresh slaps from East Coast tackle as bait. I had a decent day with the rods knocking early and ended with 5 flatties, a small bass and missing a slack liner. I also tried squid cocktails with mackerel and frozen blacks but didn’t get any luck so stuck mainly to the slaps.
Steve fished alongside the groin and struggled all day for bites but thankfully he fluked a small flattie off his last cast and avoided the dreaded blank.
Despite the weather we both enjoyed another great day.
