This style of weight has been around for years and in recent times has grown in popularity again, for beach and pier anglers they are ideal for flatties and surf fishing. The pointed studs drag in the sand releasing fresh food for the ever hungry plaice, turbot and bass.

Barbel fishermen on the big rivers such as the Trent and Severn use these when the rivers are in flood, they have brilliant bottom holding ability whilst they are not prone to becoming fast.
